Drew Hysell, Intern

About Drew:

Drew is a Counseling Intern who waited a few years to start grad school because he wanted to gain some real-world experience and work through some of his own “life stuff”. When the timing seemed right Drew was accepted to Ashland Theological Seminary to work towards a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He believes that, for the most part, each person makes the majority of their choices based on their goals and what they value. He values the opportunity to provide a brave space where persons can come to explore their experiences, and work towards wellness via attainable goals both he and clientele collaborate on together. His past experience in mental health settings includes meeting others where they are mentally, emotionally, spiritually, vocationally in a small, private, faith-based counseling organization, and a number of in-patient and out-patient addiction recovery settings.

Drew has a number of interests. To paraphrase one of his favorite TV characters, he likes liking things. Being married is definitely at the top of the list. He also is an integral part of a Vineyard small group, loves all kinds of sports, reading books that either make him think or make fictional characters vividly come alive, movies, music, video games, as well as outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
